Hitting Your Drive with the Ball Outside the Tee Box

In a Stroke Play Tournament...

Whitney knows that she should tee up her ball between and behind the tee markers. She knows the tee box is a rectangle that extends two club lengths behind the tee markers. Whitney saw her sister Caitlin tee up her ball just in front of the tee markers and hit her drive. Whitney told her sister to tee the ball up again, this time inside the tee box, and hit her third shot. Note that it is OK to stand outside of the rectangle of the tee box, as long as the ball itself is in the tee box.
