Relief from an Unmovable Obstruction

In a Stroke Play Tournament...

Bailey hit a drive and her ball came to rest on a cart path.

What can she do?

1. Bailey can play the second shot right off the cart path.

2. Bailey can determine the nearest point of relief where the ball would lie and where both of her shoes would be off the cart path. She can then drop the ball within one club length of this point, no nearer to the hole, with no penalty. She would then be hitting her second shot.

Note that Bailey must have both of her shoes off the cart path when she hits her shot. If one or both shoes are on the cart path when she hits her shot, she will get a two stroke penalty.
